The government's proposal to appoint former Chief Justice Mohan Peiris as the new Sri Lankan ambassador and Permeant Representative for the United Nations has been approved by the Committee
on High Posts.
Mr. Mohan Peris was called in to the Committee on High Posts held in Parliament Nov: (03) under the patronage of the Speaker of Parliament Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardane.
Ministers Hon.Dinesh Gunawardena, Hon. Johnston Fernando, Hon.Douglas Devananda, Hon.Keheliya Rambukwella and Members of Parliament Hon.Rishad Bathiudeen and Hon. Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka were also present at the meeting.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
