Discussions underway to grant the benefit of fuel price reduction to consumers – Min. Mahinda Amaraweera

    March 11, 2020

The crude oil prices are on the decline in the world market and the Power and Energy and Transport Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that discussions are underway to give the benefit of the price reduction to the consumers.

He said this during a public rally held in Angunakolapelessa yesterday (09). The minister added that this would be discussed at the next Cabinet meeting as well. He further said that the price of Brent crude oil had reduced by 30% to $ 31.02 per barrel by yesterday (09).

The Minister noted that the government is committed to providing maximum relief to the people, adding that the reason for the decline in world oil prices is the spread of the Coronavirus and the falling demand for fuel.
