Election Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said today (4th Dec.) that the Local Government Election polls will be held on or before February 17, next year.
Accordingly, the notification calling for nominations for 248 Local Government Institutions will be issued on December 18, the Chairman said at a press briefing held in Colombo.
Furthermore, he said that an estimated amount of funds worth Rs. 4 billion will be allocated for the Local Government Election polls.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
