    Economic and Social Statistics of Sri Lanka - 2016 Publication Featured

    The “Economic and Social Statistics of Sri Lanka – 2016” an annual publication of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, was released. It contains economic and social indicators of Sri Lanka in the areas of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), agriculture, industry, external trade and finance, government finance, banking and financial institutions, money and capital markets, prices and wages, labor force, transportation, education, health, telecommunication services, population, climate and selected information on economic and social indicators of other countries.


    In addition, information on living conditions, poverty and household characteristics in Sri Lanka from Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) conducted by the Department of Census and Statistics are also included. In addition disaggregated information at the provincial level on key economic variables are also included.


    The statistics in this publication has been presented in various breakdowns and in time series / cross sectional basis to serve the diverse needs of users. The data can be used for analyzing recent trends in the economy, and will be useful to entrepreneurs, policy makers, researchers, teachers, students and the general public. This publication can be purchased in all three languages  and  the electronic version of this publication can  be downloaded from the Central Bank website.
