It is useless to accuse the government or the Police for arresting suspects as arrests are carried out only after gathering enough and clear evidence and by adhering to the law of the country, Deputy Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ajith P. Perera has said.
Refuting the charges levelled by different parties that the government had executed the arrest of Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa early this week out of vendetta, Mr Perera asserted that there was no political agenda behind the arrest. He also explained various legal steps taken prior to the arrest.
The Minister further said that “the government had no bias against him (Mr Rajapaksa) while implementing the rule of the law in this country. We are happy about that.”
