Sri Lanka Navy escorts repaired Indian trawler to IMBL

    September 22, 2015

Sri Lanka Navy on completion of the repairs to the rescued Indian trawler, escorted it with the three Indian fishermen to the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) yesterday (21).

Sri Lanka Navy rescued this Indian trawler with three (03) Indian fishermen in distress within Sri Lankan waters, off Analativu on Sunday (20). They had been drifting due to shortage of fuel and a technical defect in their fishing trawler, when they were spotted by an SLN craft on routine patrol.

The rescued Indian fishermen and their defective fishing trawler (IND/TN/06/MM/518) were towed to Karainagar Naval Base to render repair assistance. The rescued fishermen were provided with food and refreshments during their stay in the navy base as they were found exhausted due to the ordeal of drifting in rough seas.
