The Chief Minister said so following the inauguration of the North Central Animal Production and Health new building complex constructed at a cost of Rs. 20 million.
The Chief Minister said the proposed Rajarata milk powder factory will produce a highly nutritious milk powder variety containing natural fat and other nutrients available in fresh cow milk.
About 1,000 or more milk cows will be distributed among farmer families in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa.
Provincial milk production which is around 100,000 litres will be increased up to one million litres within the next five years. Milk cow industry promotion pay dividends to farmers such as lucrative income, nutritious food and cow dung for the production of carbonic fertilizer, the Chief Minister said.
Provincial Agriculture Minister R.M.P.B Rathnayake also spoke.
