Addressing the media during a press briefing held at the company premises at Kapuwatta, he said that Sri Lanka Thriposha, a state owned company provides the best nutrition required by mothers and children of the country free of charge. Annually, the Government spends Rs. 2,500 million for the production of Thriposha for the country.
With the installation of new machines from next year (2016), the company would be able to produce 3.6 million packets of Thriposha, which is one million addition to the total of Thriposha requirements of the country. Arrangements will be made to use the additional production in the most suitable manner, after holding discussions with the relevant authorities, he said.
No pesticides, insecticides, Antitoxin, etc., in maze, soya beans and locally produced milk powder are use for the production of Thriposha which is tested for toxins, heavy metals, etc., with institutions such as ITI and Genetech before the production of Thriposha, while no genetically modified crops are used to produce Thriposha. The company assists local farmers in the production of maze, soya and beans.
