Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea area off the coast extending from Colombo to Hambantota via Galle and Matara. Showers or thundershowers can be expected at a few places in the other sea areas during the period from 2 pm to 8 pm, .the Met Dept. forecasts.
Winds will be South-westerly and speed will be 30-40 kmph. (It can strengthen up to 70km/h during thundershowers)
Southwest monsoonal winds can strengthen up to 50-60 kmph at times over sea areas around the island particularly over the sea area extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Kankasanthurai and Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota .
Therefore theses sea areas will be rough at times and may be very rough during thundershowers.
