The event had been organized to uplift the skills and talents of new artists in the Gampaha District. Ten short dramas were staged during the occasion.
As a mark of respect to late Mrs Nalini Wickremesinghe, founder of the Sudarshi Hall, State Minister Wijewardene was conferred with an honourable membership of the Foundation.
Addressing the gathering State Minister Wijewardene stated that, government would always render assistance to artists in order to help them to promote local culture in the society. He specially highlighted on the point that politics should not intervene on the activities of artists.
Further he noted that, parents should identify the aesthetic skills of their children and encourage and guide them to develop their skills.
A progress report of the foundation was also presented to the State Minister on the occasion.
10 more plays will be staged tomorrow and selected 3 dramas will be staged during the final stage which will be held at the Tower Hall in Maradana.
