Dengue prevention program in Colombo draws to a close

    June 19, 2015

The special dengue prevention program launched within the Colombo City drew to an end yesterday. About 6780 houses were examined on June 17 and yesterday.

Chief Medical Officer of Health of the Colombo Municipal Council Dr. Ruwan Wijemuni said legal action will be instituted against 79 persons who had been maintaining dengue breeding grounds in their premises. He revealed that when about 100 houses were examined, they found at least 12 which maintained mosquito breeding grounds. This was a serious issue. As such they are compelled to take legal action against those who were maintaining these mosquito breeding grounds.

He urged the public to destroy such breeding grounds in their premises and support them to eradicate this menace.
