Loans are provided to a maximum amount of Rs. 3000,000.00 for deserving War Hero families to complete their partly built houses. During today's ceremony loans were provided under the 21st phase of the housing assistance programme initiated by the Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) of the Ministry.

Speaking at the occasion, Chairperson of the SVU Mrs. S Basnayake said that a number of welfare programmes have been initiated to assist War Heroes and War Hero families to uplift their living standards by the SVU. Interest free loans are provided to selected recipients who face financial difficulty to complete their partly built houses.

Under the 21st phase a total of 48 War Heroes including 27 army, 12 navy and 09 air force personnel received financial assistance.

So far 407 army, 203 navy, 121 air force and 167 police personnel have benefitted under this project.

Members of the SVU including the Vice President Mrs. Indu Ratnayake and heads of the Seva Vanitha Units of the tri forces were also present at the occasion.
