"If they are motivated to taking political revenge, they can attack my father and myself. But stop making false allegations against my mother and brothers," Namal, the son of the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa tweeted.

The MP said that a woman who claimed to be the wife of former DIG Vass Gunawardane had lodged a complaint with the Bribery Commission accusing his mother of being involved in a gold racket.

The allegation is completely false and the whole purpose is to sling mud at his family,e said.

"Both, my father and myself are involved in politics and not the others in the family. The truth will come out in due course," he added.
