The High Commission of India has handed over relief goods recently as humanitarian assistance to the National Disaster Relief Services Centre (NDRSC) of the Ministry of Disaster Management of Sri Lanka.
The relief material was procured locally in Sri Lanka and included water purifiers, water purification tablets, buckets and cans, mats, mosquito nets, bed-sheets, towels and school exercise books.
According to Sri Lanka Disaster Management Center, over a million have been affected by the floods and landslides and at least 50,000 people have been displaced. (ST/KH)
