    Police Officers cast their postal votes yesterday

    A large number of Police officers throughout the island marked their ballot papers on Friday, the day allocated on behalf of postal voting for members of the Police for the Presidential election. 

    Postal voting of the Presidential election for public officers took place on Dec.23 and 24. Yestrerday (26) was the day allocated for Police Officers engaged in election duty, to mark their postal ballot papers.

     

    According to the elections Department, a total number of 541,831 voters are eligible to cast postal votes.. The Elections Department said this is the first election iconsisting the highest number of postal voters.

     

    Only the Police officers of the Hambantota District were given the opportunity to mark their postal votes on the Dec.23 and 24 due to the tsunami commemoration.

    Officials at the Elections Department will be casting their postal ballots on Tuesday the 30th.
