The entire membership of the National Fisheries Federation comprising over 100,000 members from the Jaffna, Mannar, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi, Puttalam, Trincomalee, Matara, Galle, Hambantota, Anuradhapura , Colombo and Kalutara unanimously pledged their support to President Mahinda Rajapaksa. This was stated by the Secretary of the Organization Premasiri Perera.
Over the last nine years the President through the Mahinda Chinthana Programme has given assistance to fisher folk as well as for the improvement of the industry.
The Executive Committee Meeting of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources was conducted by the Actg.Minister of Fisheries Sarath Kumara Gunarathna and the Actg. Secretary to the Ministry Dr.(Mrs.) Damitha de Zoysa Wednesday (10) evening.(NJ/KH)
