The Government has received a loan of US$ 50 Million from the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) towards the cost of Colombo National Highways Project for upgrading 65.45 km of key highways and for the reconstruction of Bridge on Narahenpita - Nawala - Nugegoda Road.
The proposal made by the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Highways, Ports and Shipping, to award the contract for providing consultancy services for the construction supervision of civil works under the above project as recommended by 'the Cabinet Appointed Consultants Procurement Committee (CPCC), has been approved by the Cabinet.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
