SriLankan and SLNSS seal a ground breaking Collective Agreement

    October 20, 2014

The Management of SriLankan Airlines sealed a new productivity based collective agreement with the Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya (SLNSS), for a period of three years (2014-2017) with the aim of providing enhanced incentives and benefits for the SriLankan employees.

The agreement comes into being when the Airline is embarking on a new journey, with its wide-body fleet renewal starting from this month. The Airline views this as a vital move in executing its Business Plan through motivating its employees to increase their contribution towards the Airline’s success. The Airline has taken steps to achieve this by expanding its global route network and enhancing its product to be in line with the demands and likes of the modern traveller. The Airline was also inducted into the oneworld airline alliance this year, uniting the SriLankan employees with those of thirteen other world class international airlines.

SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Officer, Kapila Chandrasena said, “Our employees have the most vital role to play, in our collective effort to achieve the goals set in the Airline’s Business plan. At a time we are taking off to a new era of world travel with the national carrier, especially with the wide-body fleet renewal and many service enhancements and connectivity expansions in order to provide a greater service to our passengers, we hope this will be an motivation and a cause of pride for every employee to serve the Airline and lead us to success.”

Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya, General Secretary Lesley Devendra said “The SLNSS has signed many agreements over the years but the one we have signed today, stands out for the positive approach adopted by the SriLankan Airlines management when it comes to providing benefits for its employees. It is now in the hands of the employees to see it fulfilled, through their commitment and contribution to the way forward of the national carrier.”

Aligning their vision with the Airline’s Business Plan, SLNSS has extended their unwavering support and commitment towards the successful implementation of the mutually beneficial agreement. The wings of Airline would be strengthened and have a new lease of life, as it continues to fly forward with the backing of SLNSS and the employees they represent. The agreement holds a greater significance as the combined forces of SLNSS, employees and the Airline’s management would work in tandem not only to marshal the Airline towards greater heights, but also towards driving the Airline’s efforts at fulfilling its national responsibility.
