    Showers to increase today and tomorrow Featured

    A slight enhancement of showery condition over the South-western part of the country can be expected today and tomorrow, Met. Department said and added that cloudy skies can be expected over most part of the country.

     

    Fairly strong winds about 40-50kmh can be expected over the country, particularly in Northern, North-central, North-western, Eastern and Central provinces and in Matara and Hambantota districts.


     
    Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts. Fairly heavy falls (about 50 mm) can be expected at some places, particularly in Rathnapura, Kegalle, Kalutara and Gampaha districts.

     

    Light showers will occur in Jaffna, Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts.

     

    On the apparent southward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 27th of August and 06th of September this year. The nearest towns of Sri Lanka over which the sun is overhead today (28th) are Nawaladi, Chalai and Periyaparanthan about 12.12 noon.
