Under this program, Minister of Foreign Employment Thalatha Athukorala, Deputy Minister Manusha Nanayakkara and officials will visit every village to find out the problems faced by migrant workers and their families.
Minister Athukorala said that the ministry will get the services of the development officers who are attached to the ministry and working at Divisional Secretariats to get the statistics of the migrant workers and their families and prepare a register.
It is planned to hold the ‘Shramika Surakuma’ program in all districts of the island. Already the program has been held in Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura. The program has helped to find the whereabouts of women who were missing for years while some problems were solved after years.
