    Navy opens more RO plants

    Three more Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants produced by the Naval Research and Development Unit were declared open at Kandulugamuwa Vidyalaya, Galnewa, Muslim Vidyalaya, Negama and village of Thunukkai, Mullaitivu for community use on 2nd August.

    The facility erected at Kandulugamuwa Vidyalaya is capable of processing drinking water for 431 school children and 378 families in the area and the RO unit at Muslim Vidyalaya will produce safe drinking water for 700 school children and 456 villagers close by. Similarly, over 325 families are blessed with safe drinking water due to this noble initiative of Sri Lanka Navy. Financial allocations for the RO plants installed at Kandulugamuwa Vidyalaya and Muslim Vidyalaya were made by the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease.

     

    Meanwhile, the remaining facility had been sponsored by Pakistan Government and Sirasa Gammedda campaign.

     

    Sri Navy has installed 242 RO plants across the country to date, facilitating over 115,925 families and 81,316 school children with safe drinking water.
