    Computer literacy training program for Govt. Servants in Nuwara Eliya

    An inaugural programme to improve  computer literacy of Government Servants commenced yesterday (07) in Nuwara Eliya.

    The programme which was organized by the Ministry of Public Management Reforms was held under the patronage of the Minister of Public Management Reforms, Naveen Disanayaka.

    As part of the Public Management Reform agenda, all public officers are expected to be computer literate. This is to improve their operational efficiency, speed and accuracy in service delivery, to encourage transparency and accountability in the conduct of government offices.

     

    Therefore the purpose of this programme is to produce an efficient public service through improvement of  computer literacy among government officers. Nearly 50 government officers  and regional media personnel in the Nuwara Eliya District participated in the programme.

     

    Also different types of management programmes have already begun within the Government Offices in Nuwara Eliya District under the Ministry of Public Management Reforms. Nearly 34 diploma programs have been initiated. According to Nuwara Eliya District Secretary D.P.G.Kumarasiri  this programme opens to the drivers of government departments too.(KH/sf)
