‘Suwa Seriya’ Free Emergency Ambulance service, which was set up with the assistance of the Government of India was extended to Gampaha District yesterday. The inauguration ceremony was held at the Gampaha Divisional Secretariat.
The emergency ambulance service was initially launched at the Galle Face Green in Colombo on 28th July.
During the occasion in Gampaha 16 ambulances were handed over to Gampaha district. Received ambulances will be assigned to district police stations and can be requested dialing 1990 number in the near future.
Ministers Ruwan Wijewardhane, John Amarathunghe, Arjuna Ranathunga, and Deputy Minister Dr. Harsha De Silva participated.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
