Considering the situation, Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senarathne has instructed the officials to continuously conduct the dengue prevention programs and one program was held from Friday (26) to today (29).

During the First two days of the program (26th and 27th Aug.) health authorities inspected 60, 379 premises, and 258 were prosecuted while 2,217 were noticed. The program was implemented covering the three districts of the Western Province (Colombo, Kaluthara, Gampaha) before the new academic term of the schools begin. The schools had been closed for the mid-year vacation for nearly one month. This provides the potential for dengue breading in school premises.

540 groups comprising members of the Three-forces, Police, and Health authorities joined the program.
