First phase of Piliyandala Town Development Project, which aims to make it Colombo’s main transport centre has been launched. One of the main aims of the project is to control the traffic which enters Colombo City. Under the “Sukitha Purawara” programme 23 cities in the Western Province will be developed .
Accordingly, Seven routes have been identified to control traffic in to the Colombo City and aim is to use Piliyandala as a Transport Hub when developing those roads.
The development of Piliyanda City was launched as its second project. Development of infrastructure and Bus Stand of the town will take place under the project. Rs.660 million will be spent on the entire city development project.
The constructions of the project are being done by the Land Reclamation and Development Corporation
