He expressed this  at a meeting held at the Kegalle District Secretariat to discuss about providing electricity to households without electricity supply in the Kegalle District.

​It has been found ​that around 200,000 families are lagging behind in getting electricity connections due to financial difficulties ​said the Minister ​and added that it is the desire of the government to provide electricty connections to all of them.

In line with the National Electrification programme, under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena, around 8,000 households in the Polonnaruwa District were given electricity connections, recently. Likewise the government will provide electricity connections to everyhousehold in the country before the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
