The Killinochchi Divisional Secretariat said that people in several areas of the killinochchi District are undergoing hardships due to heavy showers.
According to the Divisional Secretariat around 16,450 persons belonging to 4650 families in Killinochchi has been affected by floods while around 1,600 persons have been displaced. Several entry roads to the District is also obstructed owing to the heavy rains
Three camps in Kilinochchi are in operation to house the displaced persons.
