    Construction of new houses for landslide affected families begins

    The construction of new houses for families affected by the recent landslide in the Lilik Land Estate at Wedamulla in Kotmale commenced under the  patronage of Minister of Up Country New Villages and Community Development Palani Digambaram.

    Houses are being constructed for 19 families affected by the landslide at a cost of 1.2 million rupees each provided by the Ministry of Up Country New Villages and Community Development. Seven people were killed in the landslide that occurred in the Lilik Land Estate at Wedamulla.

     

    According to Minister Digambaram  the houses will  be vested with the affected people soon.

     

    The Ministry is providing the required grants for construction of the houses handled by Estate Companies under the supervision of the Plantations development Trust.

     

    Several people’s representatives including Deputy Minister Dunesh Gankanda were present on the occasion.
