A Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 aircraft, operating a flight from Colombo to Istanbul, made a precautionary return to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) early today after a technical issue was detected shortly after takeoff.
The aircraft, carrying over 200 passengers and crew members, remained airborne within Sri Lankan airspace to burn excess fuel before landing safely. Airport emergency teams were on standby as a precaution.
All passengers and crew were reported safe, and authorities confirmed that normal airport operations continued without disruption.
