The Talpe Railway Station, which has been modernised under the “Dream Destination” project of the Clean Sri Lanka programme, was completed and officially handed over to the public yesterday (02) under the patronage of Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development Bimal Rathnayake. This marks the first railway station to be refurbished under the project.
The “Dream Destination” initiative to modernise 100 railway stations has been launched as a public–private partnership by the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development in collaboration with the Clean Sri Lanka programme, with the support of the private sector.
The objective of the project is to develop a clean, attractive and passenger-friendly railway station system across the country, ensuring safety and comfort for all commuters, including persons with special needs.
