Sri Lanka has recorded a total of 1,642,215 tourist arrivals from January 1 to September 20, 2026, according to the latest data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.
During the first 20 days of September alone, 107,093 tourists arrived in the country.
Indian tourists accounted for 30% of the total arrivals in September, with 32,536 visitors, recording the highest number of arrivals from a single country during the period. Meanwhile, 7,906 tourists arrived from the United Kingdom and 7,393 from Australia between September 1 and 20.
India also remained the largest source market for Sri Lanka during the year so far, with 418,019 tourist arrivals. The United Kingdom ranked second, with 157,895 tourists visiting Sri Lanka during the period.
