Public Veneration of Devni Mori Relics Begins Today

The sacred Devni Mori relics, brought to Sri Lanka from the Devni Mori shrine in India, have been placed for public veneration at the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple from 7.00 a.m. today (5) and will remain until the 11th.

The arrival of these revered relics follows discussions held between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Prime Minister’s recent visit to Sri Lanka. Significantly, this marks the first time that the Devni Mori relics are being exhibited in a foreign country.

The relics were brought to Sri Lanka yesterday (04) aboard an Indian aircraft and were received with full state honours. They were then ceremonially conveyed to the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple.

The public veneration of the relics was officially inaugurated under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, marking a historic and spiritually significant occasion for the Buddhist community in Sri Lanka.
