The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has issued red notices ordering evacuations in two districts due to the risk of landslides, effective from 8.00 a.m. today (18).
Accordingly, a red notice has been issued for Kandy District and Nuwara Eliya District.
In the Kandy District, residents in the Medadumbara, Doluwa, Ududumbara, and Minipe Divisional Secretariat Divisions have been advised to evacuate to safer locations.
Meanwhile, in the Nuwara Eliya District, evacuation notices have been issued for the Hanguranketha, Nildandahinna, Walapane, and Mathurata Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
Authorities urge the public in affected areas to strictly follow evacuation instructions and remain alert as adverse weather conditions continue.
