Indian Vice-President Arrives on Two-Day Official Visit

The Vice-President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan, arrived in Sri Lanka this morning (19), commencing a two-day official visit.

The Vice-President of India and his delegation, who arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, were received by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage. The Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, along with a group of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was also present on the occasion.

During the visit, as a continuation of recent high-level diplomatic engagements between Sri Lanka and India, Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions today with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya.

Following a meeting with the Indian community in Sri Lanka, the Vice-President is also expected to visit the Kathiresan Kovil in Wellawatte and the Gangaramaya Temple in Hunupitiya to take part in religious observances and receive blessings.

On the second day of the official visit tomorrow (20), the Vice-President of India is expected to inspect Indian funded housing projects in the Nuwara Eliya area, where he is also scheduled to meet members of the Malaiyagam community..

After participating in religious observances at the Seetha Amman Temple, Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan will conclude his two-day official visit and depart from Sri Lanka.
