Fast-Track Fuel Supply Program Introduced for Exporters

Chairman of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), Mangala Wijesinghe, has announced a priority program to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply for exporters amid the ongoing fuel shortage.

Speaking at a media briefing, Wijesinghe said the initiative aims to support over 4,500 exporters across key sectors such as apparel, tea, and spices, recognizing the export sector as a top national priority.

He noted that the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Sri Lanka is currently collecting essential data from exporters to facilitate the program and urged those who have not yet submitted their details to do so without delay.

The move comes as Sri Lanka faces fuel supply challenges linked to global tensions in the Middle East and rising fuel prices.

Wijesinghe emphasized that the program is designed to ensure smooth operations in the export sector, stating that all necessary measures will be taken to avoid disruptions and maintain the country’s competitiveness in international markets.
