EU–Sri Lanka Joint Commission Holds 27th Session in Colombo

Ms. Paola Pampaloni, Acting Managing Director for Asia Pacific at the European External Action Service, visited Sri Lanka to co-chair the 27th Session of the EU–Sri Lanka Joint Commission. The session was held on 12 February 2026 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism.

During the visit, discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the European Union. Talks were described as constructive and forward-looking, covering areas of cooperation and future collaboration.

Ms. Pampaloni, who has overseen EU–Sri Lanka relations at the European Commission since 2014, is set to retire shortly. This visit marked her final official engagement with Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan authorities expressed appreciation for her contribution to enhancing relations between the EU and Sri Lanka over the years.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening ties and continuing cooperation under the framework of the Joint Commission.
