Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, who was sworn in as the Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning and Mr. Nishantha Jayaweera, who took oath as the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, assumed duties at the Ministry of Finance this morning (13).
Speaking at the occasion, Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando stated that viewing a ministerial position as a privilege is a historical misconception, emphasizing that such positions are in fact responsibilities entrusted to serve the people.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Nishantha Jayaweera expressed confidence that the officials who played a vital role in helping Sri Lanka recover from a severe economic crisis would continue to contribute towards the nation’s economic advancement.
Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, along with several ministry officials, attended the ceremony.
