Aid from India for Those Affected by the Disaster

An aircraft carrying relief donation from the Government and people of India for those affected by the disaster arrived in Sri Lanka early this morning (29).

The donation included approx 12 tons of humanitarian aid including tents, tarpaulins, blankets, hygiene kits and ready-to-eat food items, which was officially received by the Sri Lanka Air Force.

Another Indian aircraft carrying 9 tonnes of relief equipment including blankets, sleeping mats, mosquito nets, solar lamps, single-fly tents, female dignity kits, tarpaulins and sleeping bags also arrived in the island this morning, including a group of personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

India has taken this step with the aim of further strengthening Indo–Sri Lanka relations.
