    President to participate the first-ever Piriven Day State festival

    Sri Lanka’s first State Festival for the National Piriven Day will be held on 27th July at Getambe grounds in Kandy under the patronage of the President Maithripala Sirisena.

    The event is organized and conducted by the Pirivena Education Branch, the Ministry of Education and the Chief Pirivena Incumbents’ Association of Central Province from 25th to 27th July.

     

    Speaker Karu Jayasuriya will inaugurate the ceremony on 25th July at the Getambe grounds with the participation of the Minister of Justice and Buddha Sasana Wijayadasa Rajapakshe.

     

    Several discussion panels and conferences on the history of the Buddha Sasana, Buddhism, and other related aspects have also been organized parallel to the State festival.

     

    Currently about 75,000 laics and clergy students are engaging in Piriven Education island-wide under the guidance of nearly 6,000 teachers.
