A ceremony to mark the World Environment Day, which falls on June 5, will be held at Kegalle under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena today ( June 4th). The theme of the World Environment Day this year is “Combat environmental pollution caused by plastic misuse”. The week from May 30 to June 5 has been declared National Envronment Day to mark the occasion. The President will launch the National Environment Day Ceremony by symbolically planting a sapling. The agenda on the day will include facilitating garbage management in the area, unveiling bio-environment data report and distributing prizes and awards among winners of competitions held to mark the Environment Day
