    Putin Starts Marathon of Meetings at BRICS Summit

    Moscow, Jul 8 (Prensa Latina) Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday started a marathon of meetings in the framework of the summit of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) to analyze the international situation and cooperation projects.


    Putin will meet in the city of Ufa, the capital of the Russian Republic of Bashkiria, with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with whom he will assess the regional development project known as the Silk Road and cooperation between BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

     

    As part of his meetings with 11 Heads of State, Putin will also meet with his South African counterpart, Jacob Zuma; Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Presidents Alexander Lukashenko (Belarus) and Emomali Rajmon (Tajikistan)
     
    The Russian president will also hold a tripartite meeting with the leaders of Mongolia and China, according to sources from the presidency.

    On Thursday, Putin will meet with Iranian President Hasan Roujani, and his counterparts from Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbaev, and Brazil, Dilma Ruseff.
     
    On Friday, Putin will meet with Presidents Ashraf Gani (Afghanistan) and Islam Karimov (Uzbekistan), as well as Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
     
     Ufa is hosting the 7th BRICS Summit, which will analyze the development agenda until 2020, and the SCO Summit, made up of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, which are debating their joint cooperation strategy until 2025, the memberships of India and Pakistan, and the fight against the radical movement Islamic State.
