Dubai FlyDubai Aviation Corporation reported that the flight FZ215 from the emirate was hit by 'small gun fire' on Monday night before reaching Baghdad, although none of its 154 passengers was injured.
The device fuselage was damaged in the attack, added the note which stated that all passengers usually landed without requiring medical attention at the airport, but the incident forced to send another plane from Dubai to transport passengers waiting in Baghdad.
After the attack, FlyDubai Airlines, Emirates, Shahara Air Arabia and Etihad Airways of Abu Dhabi announced the suspension of its routes to the Mesopotamian country for security reasons since Monday until further notice.
Etihad Airways noted that this decision was made in line with the prohibition of operations to and from the Iraqi capital issued by the General Authority of Civil Aviation of UAE, explaining that 'first priority is always the security of users and employees'.
While the UAE companies said they will work with the authorities to monitor the situation before resuming scheduled services to Baghdad, the International Airport of that city announced that it took back old security measures and could be aware of the origin of the attack.
