Ramallah: The Palestinian Government today called a prior step to join the International Criminal Court (ICC) as full member, the observer status without right to vote granted to that nation of the Levant by the international entity.
The Palestinian ambassador at the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, said his government is moving in the direction of joining the ICC membership, but that's another step in that process, and the timing will be decided by President Mahmoud Abbas.
The Palestinian Government has delayed several times the request of joining agreements and international agencies, waiting for the resumption of peace talks with Israel that lead to the establishment of the independent State inside the borders prior to the Arab-Israel war in June 1967.
The premise was agreed in the Oslo Accords in 1993 after the Organization for the Liberation of Palestine recognized the existence of Israel in return of the release of prisoners and the signing of an agreement that establishes the creation of a Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as capital.
The agreements cost the life of the then Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, who died in an attack in his country.(KH/PL)
