Pope Francis suggested today that the international community took care of Mother Earth to avoid its self-destruction and defended an equable development that guarantees food for all.The pontiff said that currently, rights are pretty much talked about, frequently forgetting duties, when mankind does not worry much about the hungry.
Francis recalled that 22 years after the first summit against hunger, held at the FAO headquarters in 1992, the paradox of abundance is still valid: there is food for all, but not all can eat.
Letizia, Queen of Spain, demanded investment to improve nutrition in the world. She said the challenge is not less, because malnutrition is the main cause of diseases in the world.
FAO and the World Health Organization (WHO) organized this meeting, in which delegations from 170 countries are participating.(KH/PL)
