    “Knowing Sri Lanka” program launched in Kerala Featured

    The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India, Prof. Sudharshan Seneviratne launched the programme titled ”Knowing Sri Lanka” recently in New Delhi in the presence of Mr. Joemon Joseph, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Kerala.

     

    “Knowing Sri Lanka” is an innovative endeavor focused on the youth in the State of Kerala. This program is conceived by the Honorary Consulate of Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram as one of the measures in spreading awareness about Sri Lanka in Kerala and promoting tourism from Kerala to Sri Lanka. The program is implemented in two stages and is expected to reach out to more than 15000 students in Kerala.   

     
    Informative brochures along with a questionnaire about Sri Lanka will be circulated among the students in various schools in Kerala. Based on the performance of the participants in the final round of the quiz competition, a winner will be selected from each school. Successful participants accompanied by a teacher from their respective schools will be sponsored by the Honorary Consulate on a three day visit to Sri Lanka.


    The High Commissioner, in particular reference to the age old relationship between Sri Lanka and the state of Kerala, hailed the new initiative. He also highlighted the need to promote Sri Lanka in the State of Kerala. Honorary Consul Mr. Joseph said that “Knowing Sri Lanka” programme would not only augur well for promoting tourism but also would serve as a confidence building measure to further the people to people contact between Sri Lanka and Kerala.
