The event provided the diplomatic missions in Beirut with the opportunity to promote items and products unique to their respective countries as well as their culture and ways of life. The Missions were allowed to sell items, which could be given as Christmas or year-end gifts such as handicrafts, decorations, sweets, baked delicacies, jewellery, glassware, books, toys, paintings etc.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beirut sold handicrafts, paintings, jewellery, delicacies, tea and sweets at its stall in association with the members of the Sri Lankan community. Nearly 30 diplomatic missions participated in the bazaar. During the event, two Sri Lankan traditional dancing items were performed by the Sri Lankan expatriate community.
The Diplomatic Spouses’ Association of Lebanon(DSAL) is composed of spouses of all diplomats accredited to Lebanon and is supported by the Lebanese government, prominent leaders, personalities and members of the civil society. The primary objective of the Association is to promote social and cultural understanding, amongst and between members of the diplomatic corps and the Lebanese community. The DSAL also extends assistance and support to various charitable organizations in Lebanon and to the underprivileged Lebanese citizens, especially women, children and the elderly.
