    State Minister attends swearing-in ceremony of Kenya President

    State Minister of Foreign Affairs Vasantha Senanayake, represented the Government of Sri Lanka at the swearing-in ceremony of President elect Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday (28th Nov.) in Nairobi, Kenya.

     

    The State Minister of Foreign Affairs met President Kenyatta and extended an invitation on behalf of President Maithripala Sirisena to visit Sri Lanka.

     

    Highlighting Sri Lankan investments in Kenya, he underscored the importance of furthering relations between Kenya and Sri Lanka. Appreciating Sri Lanka’s contribution, President Kenyatta invited Sri Lankan investors to take advantage of the large East African market by investing in areas of interest. He also requested technology transfer through cooperation in the handloom, coconut and mining sectors.

     

    The State Minister of Foreign Affairs also met with Deputy President William Ruto and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs Amina Mohamed. He met members of the Sri Lankan community living in Nairobi at a dinner hosted by the Acting Sri Lanka High Commissioner Ms. Anzul Jhan.
