President Mahinda Rajapaksa officially opened the new Empire Cineplex at the Arcade Independence Square Sunday evening. The Empire Cineplex, part of the Ceylon Theatres chain of cinemas opens at the colonial masterpiece that has been restored into a high end shopping complex. The Empire Cineplex is an exclusive 90-seater cinema with state-of-the-art features that are on-par with international standards.
Ceylon Theatres has been a pioneer in the entertainment industry for over 85 years. The theatre company currently operates ten screens in Sri Lanka at the Majestic Cineplex (Colombo and Jaffna) and the Regal (Colombo, Kandy and Negombo).
