    Celebration of the 69th Independence Day at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Doha

    The 69th Anniversary of Independence Day of Sri Lanka was celebrated on 4th February at the Embassy premises in Doha with the participation of the Sri Lankan community, Religious representatives, Media personals and the Mission staff and their families.


    The celebration commenced with hoisting the National Flag by Mrs. K.H.C. Sankapali, Charge d’ Affaires, followed by the singing of the National Anthem in both Sinhala and Tamil Languages. The traditional oil lamp was lit by the Embassy Officials and invitees from the Sri Lankan Community Leaders.


    Two minutes of silence was observed in honour of those scarified their lives to protect the sovereignty of the country. Multi-faith religious observances were followed.



    The Independence Day Messages of the President, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister were read in all three languages.



    Addressing the gathering, the Charge d’ Affaires emphasized the significance changes and developments taking place in Sri Lanka and urged the Community to join the progressive path that Sri Lanka has marched in. The gathering was also informed of the new Ambassador’s arrival soon.
