    Bhutan agreed to assist Sri Lanka for Cheese and Butter Production

    Bhutan government agreed to assist Sri Lanka for adopting new technologies and scientific methods in cheese and butter production. Bhutan is world famous for good quality cheese and butter production.


    Bhutan ambassador to Sri Lanka Mrs. Pema Choden last Thursday (03) agreed to provide their fullest corporation in the field and also agreed to provide theoretical and practical guidance in Bhutan for two University sector researchers and three domestic entrepreneurs.


    Mrs. Choden stressed that while her bi-lateral meeting with Higher Education Minister .S.B. Dissanayake at the Higher Education Ministry at Ward Place, Colombo.


    According to the ambassador’s kind request to expand the President Scholarship Scheme for University Students for Bhutan students, minister agreed to consider it soon with the corporation of universities. Under the scholarship programme, Bhutan is currently getting 5 under graduate scholarships in different subjects under various Universities in Sri Lanka. Minister also agreed to provide more facilities for scholarship holders.


    Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Sunil Jayantha Nawarathne, additional secretary Mr. Piyasena Ranepura, First Secretary of the Bhutan embassy Mr. Kinzang Dorjic also presented at the meeting.(HC/SI)
